1. Click on 'Path Req'. Alternatively, in the clinical tree, right click on Pathology and Radiology.
2. Select 'Any' and click 'Ok'.
3. Select 'Warrington District General Pathology 2', then click 'Ok'.
4. Select the tests you need by browsing the tabs on the left (e.g. General Pathology, CDC POCT, Phlebotomy Booking) - each displays a different test profile.
5. Note: The 'Care Pathways' and 'Investigations' tabs include pre-built blood panels (e.g. CKD monitoring, vasculitis screen) - these cover all the relevant tests so nothing is missed.
6. Note: Occasionally, additional questions may appear as pop-ups.
7. Once you have selected the relevant tests, click the green button 'Continue with request' to proceed.
8. Complete the following fields:
Requesting Consultant/GP: Select yourself
Global Clinical Details: Input clinical details/rationale for the test
Priority: Select Routine/Urgent as necessary
Danger of Infection (High Risk): Select Yes/No depending on the patient
⚠️ Ensure you add clinical details including the rationale for the request — this helps provide context for why the tests are being ordered.
9. Select 'Patient via SMS online process' in most cases - the patient will receive a text to book their appointment.
If texting is not appropriate, select 'Patient via telephone Contact Centre' (option 3) and task admin/reception to arrange this with the patient.
For children under 16, select 'Blood Collection at Practice/by DN and Under 16's' (option 1).
For urgent bloods, do not use the SMS route as it may cause delays - instead task admin/reception directly so they can book a same-day or next-day slot.
Click OK to confirm.
10. Note: If a print dialogue appears, dismiss it by selecting 'Cancel' or closing the window with the 'X'.
11. Click 'Proceed' to complete the request.
